David R. Cockman

David R. Cockman has been in the general practice of law for more than 43 years in Raleigh with concentration in corporate law, wills and estate planning and the legal problems of individual clients. He first was a partner in the firm of Dupree, Weaver, Horton, Cockman & Alvis. After Franklin T. Dupree, Jr. was appointed as a Judge to the Federal District Court, he headed the firm of Cockman, Alvis, Akins and Aldridge. He then practiced solo for twenty five years and became Of Counsel to this firm in February, 2002.

David attended Catawba College for two years. After his sophomore year, he served in the United States Army and was sports editor of the Eighth Army Daily Octogram in Yokohoma, Japan. After his tour of duty, he graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in Radio, Motion Pictures and Television. He worked for four years as the sports director of WTNC in Thomasville, North Carolina, before attending UNC Law School where he graduated in 1957.
